First Kids Run on the Field at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium

For an event as electrifying as the Across The Bay 10k, not just any kids fun run would do. To develop an opportunity for children that is as exciting for them as crossing the legendary Chesapeake Bay Bridge is for their parents, Race Founders Peter Paris and Sparrow Rogers approached the Naval Academy Athletic Association with a bold idea: a 1k kids run that will take place on the field at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium.

“Sparrow and I both have young children that love to be included when their parents or siblings participate in a running event. When we came up with this idea, it was really our children’s overwhelming excitement when visiting Navy-Marine Corps Stadium that planted the seed. We wanted children to know that we value their participation just as much as the 20,000 adults who will be crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge the following morning.” – Peter Paris, Co-Founder of the inaugural Across The Bay 10k.

The 1k Kids Fun Run will have up to 1,000 children lining up at the players’ entrance at Navy field, running out onto the football field in a pattern and then finishing the race just in front of the Blue Angel jet that is on display at the stadium. The event also includes a shark themed costume contest which will take place immediately following the run. The winner will receive an iPad mini with a cool, custom designed shark cover. Children will start in waves according to their age group to ensure that children who are 2-12 years old have a safe, exciting event.

“The idea of supporting 1,000 children in the first ever kids race that takes place on the field at Navy-Marine Corps Stadium got our team very excited. As a company that is always looking for innovation, what could be more exciting for the youth in Maryland than a historic run in the footsteps of so many Maryland legends? Clearshark is thrilled to make this kids race possible and we hope to see a record crowd of smiling faces on November 8th.” Brittany Wilson, Director of Communication for Clearshark.

Registration for the Clearshark Shark Sprint is open online at for $25 per participant. Each participant will receive a great tech shirt, finisher medal and kids expo after the race. Children should dress in their shark costumes as judging will take place directly after the last runner crosses the finish line.
